European Council conclusions: The Future Cohesion Policy in figures

At the latest European Council the EU Heads of state and government reached political agreement on the future EU budget. The Council will now seek the consent of the European Parliament on the EU budget for 2014-2020.

  • The level of commitments will not exceed €325,149 billion (2011 constant prices)
  • Resources for the ‘Investment for growth and jobs’ goal will amount to a total of €313,197 billion of which:
    • €164,279 billion for less developed regions;
    • €31,677 billion for transition regions;
    • €49,492 billion for more developed regions;
    • €66,362 billion for Member States supported by the Cohesion Funds
    • €1,387 billion as additional funding for the outermost regions.
  • Resources for the ‘European territorial cooperation’ goal will amount to €8,948 billion of which:
    • €6,627 billion for cross-border cooperation;
    • €1,822 billion for transnational cooperation;
    • €500 million for interregional cooperation.
  • 0,35% of the global resources will be allocated to technical assistance at the initiative of the European Commission.
  • €330 million of the funds for the ‘Investment for growth and jobs goal will be allocated to innovative actions in the area of sustainable urban development at the initiative of the European Commission.
