Energy efficiency, a top priority for Bulgaria in 2014-2020

Commissioner Hahn met the newly appointed Bulgarian Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Regional Development and Public Works Ekatarina Zaharieva to discuss the management of EU funds in the current period and the future regional policy in Bulgaria as of 2014. The Commissioner welcomed the substantial progress made by the Bulgarian authorities on the acceleration of payments and  in preparing the draft regional development programme for the next programming period.

Energy efficiency projects not cost-effective, says European Court of Auditors

The latest report issued by the European Court of Auditors assessed whether Cohesion Policy funded projects in the field of energy efficiency were cost-effective. For this purpose audits were conducted in the Czech Republic, in Italy and Lithuania. The report concludes that:  

EIB lends €27 Million for energy efficiency of residential buildings in Bucharest

The European  Investment Bank (EIB) is lending EUR 27 million to finance the energy efficiency refurbishments of residential buildings in Bucharest, Romania.The loan will support the thermal rehabilitation of 94 high-rise panel residential buildings in Sector 4 of of Bucharest. The aim of the investment is to reduce the energy consumption of the buildings concerned by some 50%.
