List of 100 priority projects in Romania: focus on water and waste infrastructure
Romanian authorities released a list of 100 priority projects that will be closely monitored. The list was initially comprised of 60 projects.
The list includes projects contracted in 2008-2011.
Most projects fall under the category of ‘major projects, i.e. environmental projects worth more than €25 million, € 50 million euro in the case of transport infrastructure). According to EU regulations, all major projects must be approved by the European Commission.
The list includes information on: the projects and their objectives, financing sources (EU contribution, local budget, central budget, and beneficiaries’ contribution), the beneficiary, the managing authority and the intermediate body, the date when the contract was signed, the deadline, current implementation and expected results by the end of 2012.
The list points to major delays in implementation, particularly for projects financed under the operational program Environment.
The full list of projects is available on the website of the Romanian Ministry for European Affairs (www.dae.gov.ro)
