There is no danger for Bulgaria to lose Structural and Cohesion funds in 2012 due to the automatic n+3/n+2 decommitment rule. The statement was recently made by Renaldo Mandmets, Head of Unit Bulgaria, DG REGIO on the occasion of the seventh meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the National Strategic Reference Framework 2007-2013. The meeting focused on the financial progress of Bulgaria's operational programmes, as well as on their performance forecast until the end of the current programming period.

The Romanian Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism is coordinating the development of strategy for the cross-border area Romania - Bulgaria. The strategy aims to identify and prioritize joint projects that will be financed from European funds in the period 2014-2020. Ministries in Romania and Bulgaria, local authorities and other potential beneficiaries are involved in drafting the strategy, which will later be subject to public consultation.
