The First OP for the Czech Republic Adopted

Yesterday, the European Commission adopted the first Operational Programme 2014-2020 for the Czech Republic. The OP 'Enterprise and Innovations for Competitiveness' will boost Czech innovation and competitiveness. The budget of the OP 'Enterprise and Innovations for Competitiveness' amounts to almost 8 billion EUR with 4.3 billion EUR coming from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Latvia will invest more than half of its Structural Funds, 2,263,437,816 EUR, into sustainable growth (i.e., thematic objectives 4-7). Approximately 101,316,303 EUR will be available for technical assistance. Detail breakdown of EU Cohesion allocations available to Latvia by thematic objective is pictured in the graph below.

On 31 March, an informal meeting of Directors General responsible for Cohesion Policy took place in Riga under the Latvian Presidency. During the meeting experts discussed the most important pre-conditions for achieving the Cohesion Policy goals, in particular, enhanced use of financial instruments and the building of administrative capacity.
