4 points for better spending & effectiveness for Cohesion Policy to deliver growth & jobs

At the Informal Council in Nicosia, on 6 November, Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn presented 4 points for better spending and effectiveness for Cohesion Policy to deliver growth and jobs:

  • Endorse the ‘better spending agenda’: (i.e.. clear, measurable and transparent objectives, focused investments, ex-ante conditionalities);
  • Cohesion Policy investments must be closely linked to the European semester;
  • A credible budget.The Commission opposes budget cuts;
  • Increased coordination and political accountability on every level;
