On Wednesday, 30th of July the European Commission (EC) adopted a Partnership Agreement (PA) with Portugal on the use of European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIFs). The Partnership Agreement with Portugal is tenth in a row of 28 Partnership Agreements that will be adopted by the end of the year. These Partnership Agreements will determine the funding priorities of the Cohesion Policy in Member States of the European Union.

The European Commission adopted the first of the 28 Partnership Agreements (PAs).

Partnership Agreement with Denmark specifies investment priorities for Cohesion Policy, fisheries and rural development. A set of pre-conditions has been met (e.g., national innovation strategy), which enabled the timely adoption of the Partnership Agreement between the European Commission and Denmark. Romanian Ministry of EU Funds announced that Romania submitted its official Partnership Agreement Proposal to the European Commission. Thus, Romania is 13th Member State to officially submit its Partnership Agreement Proposal.

The European Commission confirmed that it received the official Partnership Agreement proposals from 12 Member States.The remaining 16 states have to submit their official proposals by the 22nd of April.

On 31 January Commissioner Hahn met Miguel Poiares Maduro, Portuguese Minister for Regional Development in Brussels. Mr Maduro submitted the official draft of Portugal’s Partnership Agreement for EU Funds 2014-2020.
