Memorandum on adopting the necessary measures to start the process of regionalisation-decentralisation in Romania

The Romanian Ministry of Regional Development adopted a Memorandum on the neccesary steps to start the process of regionalisation-decentralisation across the country. One of the goals of the regionalisation-decentralisation process is to have regional management structures for structural and cohesion funds. The newly set up regions will also have competences in the following fields: economic development, management of social protection programmes, cultural development, evelopment of pre-university technical and vocational education at the regional level, etc.

World Bank expertise for Romania's Regional Development

Press release The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration (MRDPA) collaborates with World Bank experts in five consulting agreements financed from European funds. The provided consulting services are aimed at increasing the planning capacity and the elaboration of strategies in areas related to regional and territorial development. Similarly, an assessment of the programming period 2007-2013 is conducted, for a better programming of the future multiannual financial package allocated to Romania for regional development.

EC confirms the unlocking of the Sectoral Operational Programme Human Resources Development (SOP HRD) and payments resumption for Romania

Further to the positive results noticed following the European Commission’s audit mission held from January 29 to February 1, 2013, EU representatives have agreed to unlock SOP HRD and resume payments to Romania. In this context, the European Commission will resume payments to Romania in the next days, for the reimbursement applications submitted in December 2012, amounting to 148 million euro, with enforcement of temporary financial corrections of 25% as agreed with the Romanian side.
