The 2013 National Reform Programme of Hungary includes a chapter on the preparations for the next generation on EU-funded programmes. The reports presents five development priorities: 1) Improving the competitiveness and global performance of the business sector; 2) Increasing the level of employment through economic development, employment, education and social inclusion policies, taking account of territorial disparities; 3) Enhancing energy and resource efficiency; 4) Tackling social and demographic challenges; 5) Local and regional development aimed at promoting economic growth.

The 2013 National Reform Programme of the Slovak Republic highlights the country's preparations for the next generation of programmes (2014-2020), as well as the lessons learnt from the current programming period. Based on the experience of the 2007 - 2013 programmes, the report notes the need for more simplification, as well as the need to improve the quality of processes in the field of public procurement. The document also includes a chapter dedicated to institutional aspects of the implementation of the Europe 2020 Strategy in Slovakia.

Ex-ante conditionalities are an essential part of the preparations for the next programming period. Cypriot authorities need to take actions to fulfil the following ex-ante conditionalities before the start of the programming period 2014-2020.
